The pool is open!!

After several cancelled trips we're finally up north to see the house. When we arrived yesterday afternoon we got to see the pool uncovered, clean and being filled. I don't know if I've ever seen my son Alex happier. He had to take off his boots and play in the water. I was thrilled to see some of the lights installed. So far they look great. Here are some pictures from yesterday.

I can't make up my mind about whether I want a backsplash or not. The master bedroom ceiling fan/light A closeup of the master bath shower accent tile, I love this green marble!

Maggie, this is going to be so beautiful when it is done. I love seeing the progress.

How fun to have your winter jacket on and still be able to go swimming :)

Pool looks AMAZING! I like your mirror--we're thinking about getting a huge mirror for our bathroom, too--I like the spaciousness it gives. The tile detail is fantastic--you guys are so close to being done!

My parent's house in northern michigan doesn't have air conditioning, either. It's never felt too hot, though.

once in a blue moon: My husband and son are completely smitten by the pool room as well. I don't think I'll see them in the rest of the house for the first month.

Marsha: Thanks! I've really loved sharing it.

TavoLini: Oh man, the pool water was right out of the well and iccccyy! John and I both hate how all the houses down in the Detroit area just close up and run the AC all summer. There was a lot of planning to make sure we wouldn't need it: the double hung windows and ceiling fans all over. We have geothermal heat which will help cool the house in the summer as well.

Amazing progress, Maggie! I love all of the bright colors you have chosen for the walls, everything looks absolutely perfect. Up North summers are ideal, the nights should be plenty cool enough especially with those ceiling fans.
